Controversy in Tamil Nadu Assembly: Demand to Ban Chennai Super Kings from IPL

In a recent development, a demand to ban Chennai Super Kings (CSK) from the Indian Premier League (IPL) has sparked a heated debate in the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly. PMK MLA Venkateswaran has demanded a ban on CSK, a team from Tamil Nadu, as it does not include any players from the state.

MLA Venkateswaran argued that there are many talented cricketers in Tamil Nadu, yet CSK has not given any opportunity to them. He further added that players from other states are given more importance in the team, which is unfair to the local talent. Therefore, the Tamil Nadu government should take action and ban the CSK team from the IPL.

During the discussion on sports budget in the assembly, a ruckus also erupted over IPL match tickets. AIADMK MLA SP Velumani claimed that his party MLAs were given free IPL tickets when they were in power, but the current opposition is being denied access to the tickets.

Velumani alleged that 400 tickets were given to the incumbent government, but none were given to any opposition MLAs. When questioned, Sports Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin stated that the BCCI had asked Jai Shah for the tickets.

The controversy surrounding the CSK team and IPL tickets has caused a heavy ruckus in the Tamil Nadu Assembly, highlighting the need for fair representation of local talent in sports teams.
