RCB in IPL 2024, made significant changes. They dropped “Bangalore” from their name, now being known as Royal Challengers Bangluru. This decision was announced by Virat Kohli, along with Faf du Plessis and Memor Mandhana from the RCB Women’s Team, during a live event on their YouTube channel. The team also unveiled a new jersey and logo.
The name change was inspired by the city’s renaming to Bangluru by the Indian government in 2014. This move aims to better connect with fans. Despite the name change, the short form “RCB” remains unchanged.
Additionally, the RCB women’s team, under Memor Mandhana’s captaincy, recently won the WPL 2024 title, adding to the franchise’s successes. Virat Kohli expressed his desire to contribute to the team’s success, aiming for their first IPL title. The RCB’s first match in IPL 2024 is against the Chennai Super Kings on March 22 at Chennai’s Chapok Stadium.
Apart from the name change, RCB also introduced a new jersey with red and dark blue colors, replacing the old logo with a completely new design.
