In the realm of the World Cup 2023, a beacon of hope shines for cricket enthusiasts. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has unveiled plans to release a staggering 400,000 tickets for the upcoming extravaganza, with a particular focus on making the highly anticipated India-Pakistan match, slated to grace Ahmedabad’s Modi Stadium on October 14, more accessible to the masses.
A high-voltage spectacle awaits as cricket’s fiercest rivals, India and Pakistan, prepare to clash in this marquee event. Astonishingly, despite the exorbitant price tag of Rs 56 lakh for a single ticket to witness this epic showdown, demand has surged to unprecedented levels, resulting in a complete sell-out.
The One Day International (ODI) World Cup is poised to enthral spectators from October 5 to November 19 on Indian soil, culminating in the electrifying duel at Modi Stadium.
Why did BCCI increase the number of World Cup tickets?
The BCCI, following consultations with stakeholders and concerned parties, has opted to expand the ticket pool significantly. This strategic decision will see the release of approximately 400,000 tickets through online channels in the next phase.
The primary objective is to maximize the cricket aficionados’ presence at the stadium, ensuring that the World Cup matches are witnessed by as many fans as possible. The online ticketing portal is set to open its doors on September 8, marking the commencement of ticket sales.
How to buy tickets of World Cup 2023
The BCCI has also laid out a comprehensive guide for prospective ticket buyers. The ticketing process for all fixtures of the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 is scheduled to commence on September 8 at 8:00 PM and can be accessed through the official website, https://tickets.cricketworldcup.com.
Meanwhile, the scramble for tickets to the Modi Stadium spectacle has already begun, with black market prices soaring to a staggering Rs 19 lakh. Unscrupulous sellers are offering match tickets at exorbitant rates on various online platforms, causing widespread consternation.
Reports suggest that a website named Viagogo is peddling more than 100 tickets for the India-Pakistan clash, with some commanding prices exceeding Rs 57 lakh. The lowest-priced ticket available on this platform currently stands at Rs 65,000.
Notably, all tickets for India’s matches are officially distributed through a partnership between BookMyShow and the BCCI, and they have already been fully allocated.
