The International Cricket Council (ICC) has changed the rating of the pitch at the Holkar Stadium in Indore from poor to average after the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) made an appeal. This decision comes after the third Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy between India and Australia ended before lunch on the third day and was criticized for its dangerous turning pitch, sparking controversy.
Panel review and new rating
A panel consisting of Wasim Khan and Roger Harper reviewed the video footage of the Indo-2 Test, and after their report, the ICC gave a below-average rating instead of a bad rating. It may be noted that spinners took 26 out of 31 wickets in the match, which ended within seven sessions, with Australia winning by nine wickets.
Holkar Stadium’s demerit point
The Holkar Stadium will now have one demerit point instead of three after the pitch’s rating was changed. Three other pitches in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy also received average ratings.
