Over the past year, India has witnessed the emergence of promising young talents through the IPL also with Sanju Samson. However, finding a consistent wicketkeeper-batsman like Sanju Samson and securing his spot in the Indian team has become a challenge.
Ishan Kishan has solidified his position as a wicketkeeper-batsman in the ODI team, showcasing his prowess with three half-centuries during the Windies tour.
Additionally, K.L. Rahul’s potential inclusion in the ODI squad, provided he’s fit, adds to the complexity due to Samson’s missed chances in recent times.
Now, a three-match T20I series against Ireland is on the horizon. Similar to the ODI scenario, Samson faces the pressure of earning a spot in the T20 team and retaining it if he succeeds.

Wicketkeeper-batsman Prabhasimransingh has also thrown his hat into the ring for ODIs. The opening pair for the Ireland matches will be Rituraj Gaikwad and Yashaswi Jaiswal. Coming in at number 4 will be Tilak Verma, who has been in fine form.
Suryakumar Yadav’s absence on the Ireland tour could potentially open up a spot for Sanju Samson at number three.
Sanju Samson’s IPL Experience
Having served as the Rajasthan Royals captain, Sanju Samson has often batted at the number three position in the IPL. Shivam Dube, a medium-pacer, is another viable option for this batting order.
While Hardik Pandya won’t be available against Ireland, Shivam Dube could fill the void created by Pandya’s absence. Additionally, Rinku Singh is a strong contender for the middle order.
A favorable start for India in the upcoming T20Is might lead to opportunities for young players, including Samson. Notably, in the recent T20 series against the West Indies, Samson managed scores of 12, 7, and 13 runs. It’s evident that Samson’s future prospects are intertwined with Rahul’s fitness status.
