Demand: Stop promotion or confiscate Bharat Ratna – Bachchu Kadu’s ultimatum
Bachchu Kadu, MLA, took to X (formerly known as Twitter) to share a compendium of visuals and explain the rationale behind the protest.
In his words, “I have repeatedly requested Bharat Ratna Sachin Tendulkar to desist from supporting the gambling lures of Paytm First. Alas, till date, this plea remains unanswered. It is important to clarify that our stance is not one of protest against Tendulkar, but his Instead, we consider it unworthy of a Bharat Ratna recipient. He should either end his association with these advertisements or consider relinquishing his prestigious honour.”
Sachin Tendulkar’s prior brush with threats
Omprakash Babarao Kadu, commonly known as Bachchu Kadu, presides as an Independent Member of Legislative Assembly representing Amravati (Lok Sabha constituency) Achalpur, Maharashtra. Kadu has continuously won his seat in the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly, an unbroken streak from 2004 to 2019.
Notably, he has also received corridors of power as a minister in the Maharashtra state government. Currently, Bachchu is serving a two-year sentence in connection with a bitter legal case. Even before this episode, Bachchu Kadu had issued threats against Tendulkar, mainly related to the field of online gaming, including discussions surrounding sending a formal legal notice to the cricketing icon.
