In the IPL 2023 T20 cricket tournament, Mumbai Indians secured their first win by defeating Delhi Capitals on the last ball of the match. Led by captain Rohit Sharma, Mumbai Indians performed exceptionally well and won by six wickets. On the other hand, Delhi Capitals are yet to win a match and have faced their fourth consecutive defeat.
Delhi Capitals won the toss and chose to bat first. Despite captain David Warner’s half-century and an explosive inning of 54 runs by Akshar Patel, the team was all out for 172 runs in 19.4 overs. Behrendorff and Piyush Chawla took three wickets each for Mumbai, while Riley Meredith and Hrithik Shokin took one each.
In response, Mumbai Indians had a target of 173 runs. The opening pair of captain Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan made a strong start and scored 71 runs in 7.3 overs. Rohit then partnered with Tilak Verma and scored a half-century of 65 runs. Tilak Verma contributed 41 runs in 29 balls. Suryakumar Yadav got out on the very first ball without scoring, while Tim David and Cameron Green remained unbeaten at 13 and 17 runs respectively. Mukesh Kumar took two wickets and Mustafizur Rahman took one for Delhi.
This thrilling match saw Mumbai Indians secure their first win of the tournament on the last ball. With captain Rohit Sharma’s strong leadership and half-century, along with the important contributions of Tilak Varma and Ishan Kishan, Mumbai Indians claimed victory over Delhi Capitals.
